“[a] planet of light and heat; its influences were commensurate with its circulation and its circulation was only restricted by the ocean. It warmed the cold; it animated the feeble; it cheered the afflicted; it stimulated the intrepid and instructed all” Walter Coxx, Northern Star newspaper 1811

Fixed in position, among a swirl of celestial beings, this star has captured the attention of people across time and space, a place of familiarity in a dynamic and ever changing world. Realta Eolais, the North Star, is the light in the sky, placing the observer in a familiar place for which they can grasp bearing, guiding those who wish to aim with direction.

This, in a nutshell, is the mission of North Star Labs, to provide guidance to those who seek it in a world that increasingly asks more and complex tasks of its people. We focus on three things –

  1. Opening science to the masses
    – Make earth observation data accessible through user-friendly, open & accessible, applications
  2. Apply scientific research to solve real world problems
    – Gather available information so no project is starting from zero, apply bayesian and transfer learning techniques to increase confidence and reduce uncertainty in Earth observations
  3. Provide actionable steps
    – Lets make earth observation easy and straightforward
